Extravagant Bishop Castle In Colorado

n the middle of Cowboy Country Colorado you will find San Isabel National Forest and Bishop Castle. This castle is the work of Jim Bishop and is 160 foot tall and weighs 50 000 tons. It’s made of local stone and it is a family home that is open to public all year around.

You have to be careful when you enter the castle because they have no insurance there, so if anything falls on your head all you can do is write an angry note to Jim Bishop in the guest book.

And the chances for something to fall aren’t that small because the castle is still under construction. On the top
of the castle you’ll notice a dragon head that has its mouth open, like its about to spit fire, and I bet you won’t believe it when I tell you that it’s made out of recycled hospital meal trays.

Out of its nostrils comes fire from the fireplace inside the castle. Very creative indeed. Inside it can remind somewhat of a church because of stained glasses that color and warm up the area.

Even though you can’t find anything about the Bishop Castle in tourist brochures, it’s really worth seeing it anyways. Speaking of castles you should take a look at this Lego replica of a Disney castle.
